MCSSA 1000-Yard Range
The Western Montana Fish and Game Association has partnered with the Mineral County Shooting Sports Association (MCSSA), near Superior, Montana, to help them establish a new 1,000-yard range. Our agreement with MCSSA will make this new range available to WMFGA members at no additional cost. Please see below for more information on and what you will need to know to access their 1000-yard range.
Accessing the 1000-Yard Range
Proof of Membership:
WMFGA Members MUST have a current membership with WMFGA and have their WMFGA Membership card with them at all times and be willing to show it, along with valid ID to anyone at the MCSSA range.
MCSSA Lock Combination:
You will need the 4 digit lock combination for MCSSA to access their 1000-yard range.
If you purchased or renewed your WMFGA online, you can request this through your WMFGA dashboard.
If you do not have an online account, you can request this code from by email at info@wmfga.com or by calling us at 1-406-214-7296. Please note that we must have an updated WMFGA waiver - that includes MCSSA 1000-yard range - before you may receive the gate code. This method will have delayed access to the code.
MCSSA Range Sign-In:
Be sure to sign in once you have arrived at the range.
MCSSA Location
The MCSSA range is located at 475 Cougar Creek Rd, Superior MT 59872.
Driving Directions from Missoula -
- From Missoula, take I-90 West toward Superior / Coeur d’Alene.
- Stay on I-90 for 55 miles.
- Take Exit 55 (Lozeau, MT).
- At the end of the ramp, turn left on Quartz Rd and go under the interstate (heading back east briefly, parallel to I-90).
- After a short distance, turn right onto Cougar Creek Way
- Follow Cougar Creek Way past the MCSSA clubhouse and other ranges.
- Continue up Cougar Creek Way approximately 3/4 mile up the hill, then turn left at the turn off to the 1000 yard range.
- Follow Range Signs.
MCSSA Range Hours
It is your responsibility to confirm that MCSSA’s 1000-yard range is open before traveling to the facility.

Sunday - Saturday 8:00AM – 8:00 PM OR DARK, whichever is earlier.

MCSSA Range Rules
MCSSA operates under its own range rules and policies, which may differ from those of the Deer Creek Shooting Center. It is your responsibility to be familiar with and follow all MCSSA rules at all times while on their property and using their facilities.
Eye and ear protection are required at all times.
Firearms must remain unloaded until positioned at the firing line.
Follow all instructions from the Range Safety Officer (RSO).
No alcohol or drugs are permitted on the range.
Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.

1000-Yard Range
MCSSA's 1000-yard range is unattended and has no range officer on duty. Be sure to abide by their posted rules while using the range.
Target Information:
MCSSA has steel targets located at 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900, & 1000 Yards.
There are target backers for paper targets located at 500 yards & 1000 yards. BE SURE TO REMOVE PAPER TARGETS and dispose of any garbage.
